THE GAMES DEPARTMENT

The Games department is one of the departments in St Brigid’s Girls High School. It is headed by Mrs. Ingati Beatrice and she is assisted by Mr. Kiteyi Peter. The Games prefects for the year 2010/11 include Brenda Bulut(4S), Gladys Wanyama (3S) and Celestine Akoth (2S).

                        THE VOLLEYBALL TEAM

The department exists to cater for and nurture the sporting potentials of the student. As the adage goes “all work and no play makes Mary a dull girl” thus a realization that for the school to achieve greater  academic excellence, then games has to play a pivotal role towards this end. Not only does games serve the academic purpose but also provides an avenue for the student to relax, engage in their favourite game and also compete with other students from other schools at different levels.

Other activities organized by this department include the teaching staff versus the students netball match and teaching staff versus school subordinate staff football match during the St Brigid’s day every year. Inter class football competition is always an event to look forward to every third term.

Games days include Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, between 4:10pm to 5:20pm. There are a total of 10 disciplines offered by this department which include;

 Football (Leg ball), coached by Mr. Barasa Edward, Mr. Kigen Simon and Khanda Jackson.

This year for the first time, the Basketball team was the pride of the school when it represented Trans Nzoia County in the Provincial games at Moi girls High School Eldoret where they advanced up to the semi-finals. The hockey team played at the county level and were eliminated at the semi finals. Handball, and Netball represented the zone at the district level.
As a department we work together towards nurturing the sporting potential of the students in St. Brigids, thus helping them perform even better academically.
